Donate to Charity Through iGive.com

Donate to Charity Through iGive.com

Here's an easy way to help your favorite charity. If you shop online, and I know everyone must sometimes then you just have to check out iGive.com. Whenever you shop online, shop through iGive and 3 to 26% of your purchase will be donated to your favorite charity. I've chosen to donate to N.O.A.H. a no-kill shelter located about an hour north of Seattle where I adopted my wonderful dog, Sydney. NOAH wasn't on the list of charities that I could donate to when I first signed up with iGive so I added them. So if your favorite charity isn't on the list just go ahead and add them and then send a note to all your friends to shop using iGive.com.

Here's how it works:

Every time you shop online at any of their 806 participating stores and when you search the web through iSearchiGive.com (a search engined powered by iGive!), you will raise a penny or more for your cause every time.

If you do happen to make a purchase through iGive within 45 days of joining, they'll donate an EXTRA $5 to your favorite cause! With 806 stores in the iGive Mall and the new iSearchiGive.com search engine, it's easy to find the things you need AND raise money for a good cause.

How can you pass this up!?

Teen Driving

Teen Driving

My daughter's softball coach just forwarded this to the kids and parents. If you have a teenage driver, or a teenager who now goes to school with kids that can drive - that's my new worry as my daughter just entered high school - please read.

Here are some “statistics” about fatal/catastrophic auto accidents (as opposed to rear end fender benders):

They are by FAR the leading cause of death in persons under 20;
Over half occur after midnight;
About 60% occur after dark or just before sunrise;
About 40 percent involve drugs/alcohol;
Of those involving drugs/alcohol, 80 percent occur at night;
About 20 percent involve pedestrians or bicyclists being struck while in a place they had every right to be;
About a third of the deaths are PASSENGERS;
About one third involve drivers under 21 (who represent about 5% of licensed drivers);
About 10 percent are single car accidents, of which about 75 per cent are drug/alcohol related.
About 80 percent of the drivers in drug/alcohol related fatalities are MALE.

Probably the most danger kids will ever be in is in a car at night, after midnight on a weekend. THEY NEED TO BE HOME AT OR BEFORE MIDNIGHT. If they get into a car with an impaired young male or female they are taking their life in their hands, period.

Pedestrians need to use EXTREME CAUTION around the roadways, especially after dark and most especially on a weekend after dark

Softball in the Olympics

Softball in the Olympics

I am the mother of two daughters who play Select softball. They've been playing the game since they were 6 - of course it started out as T-ball, quite entertaining! Little League was fun, and both of my girls have played in the Junior World Series. All very exciting. Now they both play on Select teams, a level of competition usually above Little Leage and High School ball for girls dedicated to playing at a higher, more intense level.

Did you watch the Summer Olympics? If so, you may know that the US team lost to Japan - the first Olympics we haven't won. It was quite a shock to lose - Japan has a great pitcher and it was her day.

I'm writing to ask for your help. In 2005, the Olympic Committee decided to remove softball from the 2012 Olympics. The Committee is made up of mostly European countries and they voted softball out of the Games. Now, I'm not going to put down other sports, but can anyone with any logic tell me why archery, ping pong, and badminton get to stay and softball doesn't?

Please, will you help get softball reinstated by signing the following petition? It's a sport that is worthy of the Games.

Sign the petition to return softball to the Olympics.

About Me

About Me

Hello,

My name is Sandi and I love the internet. I worked for the same company for 16 years starting as their Executive Admin Assistant and ending as their HR Director where I also managed a few of the support staff departments. With the commute to Seattle from the suburbs I was gone 11 and 12 hours a day. My daughter was starting Jr. High and I knew I could just not be away so many hours during such a critical time in her life.

So now I'm home always looking for ways to make money, and wouldn't mind working out of the home in HR, Benefits Administration, or Recruiting. I'm a great employee if you're looking. I did find a PT job in a school as a School Assistant. Not much money there though, although a very nice job - great kids and staff. I'm writing a website on choosing the right dog to adopt - www.adopt-the-right-dog.com

I can also work from home doing administrative work, writing, editing, customer service. I have excellent computer skills, so give me a shout if you need help! I'm reliable, trustworthy, and efficient.

Other places you'll find my writing..
